I am so excited about this past year in Sci-Fi films and television... Several new movies and television shows were made and in development.. As a child I didn't "Get It", my parents would bring home all of these as I called them B movies... I didn't realize that my taste in movies today would be so different from what I watched as a kid. I grew up watching fun loving comedies, some dramas, real life movies, and of course some cartoons. Today, with a better understanding of movies, how they are made, the originality of some, I am enjoying, dissecting, learning a lot from them. I understand now, more than I ever have, why my parents would bring these movies home. Yes, everybody wants to see the next big thing, but sometimes it's nice just to escape. Escape, into a different world, turn off from the big picture. This is what I find with Sci-Fi... Yes, I do "Get It" now.. A couple of years ago my friend introduced me to Battlestar Galactica, I do believe that this started my fascination with this genre. I have since watched the whole re-boot of the series, but I cannot muster the attention to watch the original series (Which one of my friends tells me "It's just criminal, that you won't watch the original") Alas, he doesn't understand that this is "Original" to me. I will continue with the series as there is a new concept being developed on the idea of Battlestar Galactica. "Caprica" starts this month on Sci-Fi.
Several of the movies that came out this past year re-enforced my stance on Sci-Fi,
District 9, Avatar, 9, Battlestar Galactica: The Plan. I am finding originality in movies is so rare these days, that when something new and different pops up it is awe inspiring.
One of these days I will have to say thank you to my friend who gave me a new outlook on the way that I watch movies and television.
ooooh your recipe sounds so sexy...
